Google AI Overview Checker
Find out which searches show an AI Overview, whether your website is cited and which competitors appear.
Check Google AI Overviews for the keywords your customers use. See the generated answer, inspect its cited pages and compare your website with competitors in the same search snapshot.
Start with one keyword, check a list or monitor a saved campaign. EduGuestPost’s Google AI Overview Checker keeps the answer evidence, search context and capture time beside each result, so you can decide what to investigate next.
Enter: Keyword or question · Your website · Optional target page · Competitors
Choose: Market · Language · Desktop or mobile
Modes: Check a keyword · Check a list · Import captures · Monitor keywords
Form note: Available locations, collection methods, batch limits and any usage cost are shown before a check starts. Imported and cached results keep their original capture times.

What does a Google AI Overview checker do?
An AI Overview checker reviews whether a Google search includes an AI-generated summary and which pages that summary links to. When you add your domain, it also checks whether those references include your website.
An Overview can name your business without linking to it. It can cite an article on your website without naming your brand. Your ordinary organic ranking is another measurement. This report shows those observations separately, with the answer and source links available to inspect.
Google AI Overviews appear within regular search results. Google AI Mode is a separate experience. For a broader comparison across Google AI Mode and other AI platforms, use the AI Visibility Checker.
How to check your Google AI Overview visibility
1. Choose a search your customers actually make
Enter a keyword, a full question or a comparison query. You can also paste a list, upload a supported file or select questions from your saved keyword research.
Add your website, the page you want to measure and relevant competitors. Brand aliases help identify mentions; your chosen domains define which citations count as yours.
2. Set the market and device
Choose the supported country, language and device that match your audience. Where the collection source supports finer locations, you can investigate a region, city or postal area.
Run different markets as separate checks. A result collected for one location describes that observation, even if the keyword is the same elsewhere.
3. Collect a result or import a capture
Run a check through an available Google results connection, or import an observation you already captured. Supported imports retain the query, shown query, answer, references, search context and original capture time.
The collection process handles supported late-loading Overview content and records whether the answer and reference list are complete. You can follow batch progress and review completed results as they arrive.
4. Review sources, compare results and choose an action
Open the Overview, see whether your brand or website appears, and read the cited pages. Compare competitors, inspect the organic results and save relevant findings to your action plan.
Turn worthwhile questions into a monitoring campaign so the next report shows how those observations change.

Content, technical and source-research tasks linked to the evidence
Every summary links back to the observations it includes. Filters help you find queries that cite you, cite a competitor, show no Overview or need more complete evidence.
Check keywords in bulk and discover more useful queries
Review a list of keywords in one campaign instead of repeating the form for every search. Import CSV or Excel keyword lists, paste questions, assign topic tags and remove duplicates before collection.
Connected domain research can suggest keywords your website already ranks for, queries where it is cited and keywords competitors appear for. Add relevant Search Console queries or questions from your customer research to build a broader tracking set.
Group keywords by page, topic, intent, product, market or campaign. Use available search-volume, difficulty, CPC and traffic-value estimates to help prioritize the list. Their source and update date stay visible.
Research suggestions identify how they were produced. A generated question is a proposed query to test; a dataset lookup describes the coverage of that dataset. Neither reveals every search customers make.
See which pages Google cites
Explore cited domains and exact URLs, including your own pages, competitors, publishers, reviews, forums and videos. Review the prompts behind a cited page, its frequency in your sample and the other sources that appear alongside it.

The answer viewer preserves supported paragraphs, lists, tables and expandable sections. Where supplied, it also displays image, video, product and mathematical content. Each supported passage keeps its reference mapping, while unsupported or missing elements remain flagged.
Citation placement adds context to a source link. When the capture records the layout, you can distinguish sources visible in the initial Overview from those shown after expansion, sidebar cards and links inside the answer. That describes the captured layout; it does not establish how many users saw or clicked a link.
Compare source order using the same documented method. A reference’s identifier, its order in a provider file and its visible position can be different values.
Need to investigate a cited destination? Use the Redirect Checker to examine the URL path. For a closer review of whether a source supports a statement, continue with the AI Citation Checker.
Compare AI Overview citations with organic rankings
A strong organic position and an Overview citation can occur independently. Your report lets you investigate both for the same query and capture.
See whether your page ranks organically and is cited, ranks without a citation, receives a citation through a different URL, or appears in the Overview while absent from the collected organic results. If the organic capture is limited, its depth is shown beside the comparison.
Inspect how many unique Overview source URLs also appear in the selected organic set. The overlap report shows the counting rule and denominator, helping you distinguish shared sources from your own website’s citation rate.
Other SERP features add context. Review available featured snippets, People Also Ask questions, related searches, ads, local results and shopping elements alongside the Overview. Captured layout or pixel-position data can help explain where results sit on the page, without turning that placement into a traffic estimate.
Keyword history and target-page tracking also help you spot a different page from your website appearing for a planned query. Investigate that page before treating the change as a content opportunity.
Track citation gaps and competitor visibility
Compare the websites and brands that appear in the same collected Overviews. Find keywords where competitors are cited and your website is absent from a complete reference list, or where your brand is missing from a complete answer.
Topic and market views help you identify repeated patterns. Review which pages earn competitors’ citations, which publishers recur and which questions your current content answers poorly.
Citation share and brand share of voice include the tracked comparison group and calculation method. A custom visibility score shows its inputs and weights. These metrics summarize the selected queries and observations, helping you compare relevant periods and competitors.
Add a source to a watchlist when it deserves further investigation. Inspect emerging domains, source gains and losses, and the content behind frequently cited URLs. Source pages may mention your competitors even when the generated answer does not.
Understand the difference between a missing Overview and missing evidence
Sometimes a completed Google search shows no AI Overview. Sometimes the Overview is present, but part of its answer or source list has not been captured. A request can also fail before the result is usable.
The checker keeps these outcomes separate. A source link found in a partial capture remains useful evidence. Missing information in that capture stays unknown until the relevant evidence is complete.
ILLUSTRATIVE SAMPLE · NOT A CUSTOMER RESULT OR LIVE CHECK
How capture coverage changes the denominator
Illustrative example: You attempt 12 checks. Eight show an Overview, two completed searches show none, one remains unresolved and one fails. The presence rate is 80% of the ten checks with a decidable outcome. Of the eight Overviews, six have complete answers and reference lists. If two of those cite your website, the complete-capture citation rate is 33.3%.
Mention rate uses complete answer text. Citation rate uses the defined complete-reference sample. When a metric has no eligible observations, the report shows it as unavailable.
Open the methodology panel to review the included captures, exclusions and counting rules before using a percentage in a client report.
Monitor changes and keep the supporting snapshots
Set a daily, weekly, monthly or custom schedule for the available connections. Save each run with its query set, capture time, source and coverage so a trend remains traceable to actual observations.
Receive supported email, in-app or connected workspace alerts for new or lost citations, competitor appearances, changes in Overview presence and collection problems. A completed-check digest gives your team a practical starting point for review.
Compare matching keywords, shown queries, locations, languages, devices and collection methods. Review added and removed citation URLs, changes in answer text and shifts in source placement. Repeated checks show how variable the observations are.
Add notes when you update a page, publish research or resolve a technical issue. The history shows what changed afterward and preserves the earlier evidence. Assess other explanations before attributing a change to your work.
Use available industry or category datasets to give your own trends context. Their sample and collection period are shown, so an external benchmark is not confused with your campaign’s data.
Review brand descriptions and accuracy
Inspect the sentences that describe your business, products or services. Sentiment labels and recurring themes help your team find positive, neutral or negative descriptions, with the excerpts behind each label.
Compare answer claims with an approved brand knowledge base to flag outdated features, incorrect prices or inconsistent business details. Reviewers can confirm a finding, correct a brand match or amend an interpretation, keeping the reason with the record.
Connected source analysis can also examine cited threads, reviews and videos for relevant brand mentions and themes. Use that evidence to understand the information available around your category and plan useful contributions.
Automated flags prioritize investigation. Your team reviews the claim and its supporting material before making a correction plan.
Turn findings into a content and technical action plan
Start with a specific gap: a question your customers ask, the answer Google displayed and the pages it cited. Decide what useful information your existing page can add—such as original evidence, current documentation, a clearer comparison or an explanation based on experience.
Use the Content Brief Generator to outline that work. The connected editorial workspace supports brand facts, writing guidance, source references, draft reviews, revision history and approval steps. You can coordinate updates in a content calendar and export approved work or publish through supported CMS connections.
For help producing the finished article or supporting resource, explore our guest-post content writing service. The brief should start with the reader’s need and the evidence you can contribute.
Technical findings need their own investigation. Use the Indexability Checker for access and indexing-directive evidence, and the AI Citation Readiness Checker for a broader page review.
Connected audits can examine response codes, robots directives, canonical tags, rendering, snippet restrictions and consistency between structured data and visible content. Prioritized tasks identify the affected page, evidence, owner and review status. First-party crawler logs provide another source of access evidence.
The Internal Link Opportunity Finder helps connect relevant existing pages. Our AI Overviews SEO guide explains how those improvements fit into your wider search strategy.
Connect Overview observations with Search Console and analytics
Connect an authorized Search Console property or import supported exports to review your search performance alongside the tracked snapshots. Ordinary performance data adds queries, clicks, impressions, CTR and organic position.
Google’s Generative AI performance report provides impression data for supported Google Search AI features, including AI Overviews and AI Mode. Its available dimensions include pages, countries, devices and dates. The reporting workspace preserves the scope of those exports and distinguishes them from the checker’s keyword observations.
Authorized analytics and conversion data add visits, landing-page engagement, leads or revenue events your business records. Keep those measured outcomes separate from licensed competitor estimates and modeled traffic scenarios.
If clicks fall while rankings remain similar, investigate the full picture: search demand, intent, SERP features, device mix, competitors and your own site changes. An Overview’s appearance provides context; it does not establish the cause of a traffic decline.
Share reports and manage agency campaigns
Build a dashboard for one website or a portfolio of clients. Save filters, compare topic groups, assign tasks and prepare reports around the metrics each stakeholder needs.
Export evidence and summaries as CSV, Excel, JSON or PDF. Supported HTML and Markdown exports preserve useful answer content; chart exports help with presentations. Include search settings, capture dates, collection coverage and methodology in shared findings.
White-label reports, scheduled delivery and revocable share links support client reporting. Workspace roles, project permissions and available enterprise sign-in controls manage who can access saved evidence. Storage, export, deletion and retention settings are available in the workspace.
Use documented APIs, MCP connections, BI connectors and supported automation integrations to bring data into your existing reporting process. A connected analysis assistant can help explore the report and point back to the observations it uses.
Add broader tracking when your question needs it
The Google AI Overview report stays focused on this search surface. Connected modules extend the same research to Google AI Mode and other platforms, with separate coverage and collection labels.
Product teams can review supported shopping recommendations, product attributes, prices and retailer appearances. Local teams can compare location-specific questions and business details. Advertising workflows keep observed sponsored placements separate from organic citations. Those reports identify the engine and surface they actually measure.
Frequently asked questions
Can this checker collect live Google AI Overview results?
It can collect results through the active connections shown in the interface. You can also import captured observations and supported provider files. Each result identifies its collection method, capture time and completeness.
Can I check several keywords at once?
Yes. The expanded bulk workflow accepts supported keyword lists and files. Confirm the batch limit, market settings and any cost before collection. Completed results can be reviewed while the remaining checks run.
Does an AI Overview citation mean I rank number one?
A citation means a link to your page appeared in the captured Overview. Organic position and visible citation order are separate fields. Some tools combine these into their own ranking conventions, so review the method before comparing numbers.
Why does the report show a citation but no citation percentage?
The link may have been observed in a partial capture. It remains in the evidence, while the incomplete record stays outside the complete-capture percentage. Open the coverage details to see which observations qualify.
Can I monitor competitors and different markets?
Yes. Add competitors to a saved campaign and select supported locations, languages and devices. Comparisons identify the observations included and keep different search contexts visible.
Does this report include Google AI Mode?
This report measures AI Overviews. The connected AI Visibility Checker provides a broader workspace for AI Mode and other supported platforms. Their results retain separate labels.
Why does my own Google search look different?
Location, device, language, timing, personalization and collection method can affect what appears. Check the recorded context and capture time, then repeat the same settings where possible. A sampled result cannot represent every user’s search.
Does scanning my page confirm that Google has indexed it?
A public page review provides technical evidence about access and directives. It does not establish Google’s actual index status. Use the appropriate authorized Search Console tools for that investigation.
Will a better readiness score guarantee an Overview citation?
A readiness score helps organize the checks and recommendations behind it. Google controls which sources appear. Our guide to getting cited by AI search engines explains practical improvements without promising inclusion.
Do I need special AI schema or an llms.txt file for Google AI Overviews?
Google’s current optimization guide says special AI markup and llms.txt are unnecessary for Google Search visibility. Focus on useful content and established SEO. Review whether your page is indexed, snippet-eligible and included in the relevant Search Console generative-AI settings.
Are my captures and reports stored?
Saved campaigns and monitoring history use the workspace’s documented storage and retention settings. Review those settings, sharing permissions and connected-provider policies before submitting sensitive information. Exports contain the evidence you choose to include.
