Private-corpus and optional public-web comparison

Originality and Plagiarism Checker

Find repeated wording before an article reaches a publisher. The local review compares your draft with the reference library maintained on this site, identifies matching sources, and shows the passages that deserve a closer editorial look.

Paste the complete draft for the most useful comparison. Short shared phrases are not automatically treated as plagiarism; review the source and surrounding passage before deciding.

Originality and Plagiarism Review

Compare text with the private reference corpus, find overlapping passages, and optionally add a licensed public-web check.

A result you can inspect

See where the overlap comes from

A percentage alone does not tell an editor whether a match is harmless, properly quoted, accidentally repeated, or copied too closely. This review keeps the source evidence beside the score. It reports how much of the submitted draft overlaps with the indexed source, how similar the two documents are overall, and the longest continuous matching passage.

The originality percentage is limited to the sources available in the selected mode. Local mode searches published WordPress content and references added by the administrator. Hybrid mode adds Copyscape when licensed credentials are configured. No local tool can honestly claim to search the entire public Internet without access to a large external web index.

What the report includes

  • Originality and matched-coverage percentages
  • Matching source title, URL, and source type
  • Query coverage, source overlap, and Jaccard similarity
  • Longest continuous matching phrase
  • Readable matching passages for human review
  • CSV, JSON, copy, and order-handoff actions

Editorial workflow

Check the draft before publisher submission

Load the full draft

Paste the article or load a text, Markdown, HTML, CSV, or JSON file. Add your own domains to the exclusion field when their appearance in the source list would distract from the review.

Read the matched passages

Start with the longest passages and highest-coverage sources. Confirm whether the wording is a quotation, a standard phrase, an internal reuse, or a section that should be rewritten and cited.

Prepare the clean version

Revise only where the evidence warrants it. Then use the readability, anchor, and formatting tools to prepare the article for the publisher’s editorial requirements.

Private reference library

Compare against the content that matters to your team

The site administrator can index published posts and pages or add private references manually. That makes the local engine useful for finding accidental reuse across a large site, duplicate agency drafts, repeated client copy, and material that has already been supplied to another publisher.

The fingerprint size, minimum words, passage length, match threshold, source limit, provider mode, and retention policy can all be adjusted in WordPress admin. Rebuilding the corpus updates its fingerprints after the settings or source content changes.

Privacy by default

Local checks do not send draft text to an outside provider. Scan logging is disabled by default, and content retention has a separate opt-in control. If Copyscape or hybrid mode is enabled, the form clearly asks the user to acknowledge the paid external check before submission.

Questions editors ask

Originality checker FAQs

Does the local checker search the whole Internet?

No. It searches the private corpus configured on this WordPress site. A public-web search requires the optional licensed Copyscape mode.

Does a match prove plagiarism?

No. Common language, quotations, legal wording, product names, and properly attributed passages can match. The source and passage evidence must be reviewed by a person.

What is the difference between coverage and similarity?

Coverage asks how much of the submitted draft appears in a source. Jaccard similarity compares the shared fingerprints with the total fingerprints across both documents, so a very long source can have high draft coverage but lower whole-document similarity.

Is submitted text stored?

Local scan content is not retained by default. Administrators can enable time-limited logs, with a separate setting for retaining submitted content.
