LINK REVIEW · COMPETITOR HISTORY

Competitor Link Velocity Analyzer

Compare two domains over the same calendar months. See what a backlink index observed, with missing periods and source limits kept visible.

Provider observations · Not verified acquisition dates

01

Choose comparable inputs

Use two distinct domains and one closed-month window, from one provider.

02

Inspect the timeline

Review monthly evidence and unknown cells before comparing common-period means.

03

Keep the context

Discovery activity is not acquisition timing, ranking growth or a recommended building rate.

CONNECTION STATUS

Automatic comparisons: source setup required

The history adapters are installed but not connected or authorized for this tool. Configure DataForSEO or Majestic under Link Review → Anchor Profile, then opt in under Link Review → Link Velocity.

No paid requests are enabled for this tool. Source access, historical coverage, display rights and a real report still need verification.

A discovery timeline, not a prescription

Counts depend on a provider's crawler, index and definitions. A change in observed links does not establish when links were created, why rankings moved or how many links you should build.

DataForSEO and Majestic histories use different metrics. Reports never blend providers, fill missing months with invented zeros or rank a domain as a winner.

Questions and limits

Does this reveal actual link-acquisition dates?

No. These are provider index observations. Delayed discovery, recrawls, index changes and reappearing links can shift counts without new link-building activity.

How does this differ from the Link Velocity Calculator?

The calculator plans from supplied assumptions. This tool requests historical observations for two user-selected domains using one provider and a shared calendar window. Neither recommends a guaranteed safe acquisition rate.

Which periods are compared?

Select two to twelve closed UTC calendar months, within the administrator cap. The current month is excluded. Summary arithmetic uses only months with evidence for both domains and the selected metric; missing cells are unknown.

Are DataForSEO and Majestic metrics interchangeable?

No. DataForSEO supplies provider-new/lost backlink and referring main-domain observations. Majestic Historic supplies non-cumulative monthly discoveries. Its Deleted and overlapping link-type rows are not combined or treated as the same new/lost series.

What do totals and changes mean?

Totals add monthly observations; a domain may contribute in more than one month, so this is not a period-unique referring-domain count. Means are per common calendar month. First-to-last change is not growth in total live backlink stock. A zero baseline has no percentage-change value.

Why can a closed month be unknown or zero?

Majestic index coverage can end before your chosen month, or a field may be absent. Those cells are unknown. DataForSEO can report zero for no-data periods, so zero does not prove no backlinks existed.

Why is a source connection required?

Open-source code does not supply a ready reverse backlink history index. Configure the existing encrypted source under Link Review → Anchor Profile, confirm display/usage rights, then opt this tool in under Link Review → Link Velocity. No requests are enabled by this release.

What is sent or stored?

The chosen domains and supported time window are sent to one provider. DataForSEO uses two sequential requests; Majestic uses one two-item request. No automatic retries, backlink-page fetches, schedules or report history are created. Browser CSV/JSON require combined export permission and provider rights.
