01 / Live URL tracing

Where does your URL lead?

Paste up to 5 URL rows. Inspect the responses, final destination and source evidence.

Import CSV, TSV or text

Preview the rows locally before applying them. Use url or old_url and expected_url column headers.

Up to 5 public URLs, one per line. Do not include sign-in links.

Profiles change the request header. The exact header appears in your report; browser JavaScript and login sessions are not used.

Human verification code
The code expires after ten minutes and works once.

REDIRECT CHECKER · MAPPING VALIDATOR

Does the old URL reach the destination you expect?

Compare up to 5 old-to-expected URL pairs. Review destination agreement, observed redirects and the final HTTP response separately.

Free · no API requiredExplicit pairs onlyNo redirect configuration changes
Match the two lists line by line
Import CSV, TSV or text

Preview the rows locally before applying them. Use url or old_url and expected_url column headers.

Line 1 on the left pairs with line 1 on the right, and so on. Use equal line counts with no blank rows. A shared trailing blank row is ignored; missing values are never shifted or guessed.

Query-bearing URLs, action paths and resource URLs are excluded in this version. Each pair follows only its two supplied origins, subject to robots rules and request limits. A matching destination is not proof of content equivalence, indexing or migration success.

The supplied URLs are sent to this site for a bounded server-side check. The tool does not save reports or raw response bodies; requested websites and ordinary infrastructure may log requests. Human verification and the shared Redirect Checker allowance apply.

Review your redirect map before deployment

Find duplicate sources, conflicting destinations, self-redirects, map chains and cycles across up to 500 supplied pairs. This analyzes your proposed map in this browser only—not live HTTP redirects.

Import CSV, TSV or text

Preview the rows locally before applying them. Use url or old_url and expected_url column headers.

Each line on the left pairs only with the same line on the right. Full HTTP(S) URLs, up to 1,000 bytes per URL. Scheme/host case, default ports and empty paths are normalized; fragments are excluded. Path case, trailing slashes, queries, percent encoding and literal dot segments remain distinct.

No CAPTCHA or allowance is needed because this mode makes no URL requests. Reports are not stored. This tool does not create, publish or apply redirect rules, and a terminal map candidate is not a verified live destination.

READ THE EVIDENCE

One route. Three questions.

A destination match is useful evidence. Read it alongside the redirect and the final response before deciding what to fix.

01

Did the address match?

The mapping validator compares the observed final URL with your expected destination. An incomplete trace can leave the answer unknown.

02

Was a redirect observed?

A direct 200 response from the expected URL does not establish an old-to-new redirect. Start with the old address people actually use.

03

Did the destination respond successfully?

A matching URL that returns 404 is an address match, but it is still an HTTP error. Check the destination as well as the first hop.

How to interpret a mapping: hypothetical examples
Observed routeWhat you knowNext review
Old URL → expected URL → 200Address matched; redirect observed; HTTP success.Confirm that the page serves the intended content.
Old URL → expected URL → 404Address matched; destination returned an error.Restore the destination or choose a relevant replacement.
Expected URL → 200 directlyThe checked address responded successfully.Test the actual old URL to verify its forwarding rule.
Trace stops before a terminal responseThe route remains incomplete.Review the stop reason; an unknown result is not a confirmed mismatch.

A CLEAR WORKFLOW

From old URL to a useful repair decision.

01 / INPUT

Start with the old address

Paste representative deep pages, including the relevant HTTP or HTTPS variant. Import CSV, TSV or text for a local preview. Missing mapping cells stay attached to their original rows.

02 / REQUEST

Choose your context

Select GET or HEAD. URL tracing also offers checker, desktop and mobile header profiles. Each report records the actual User-Agent; the profile does not run a browser.

03 / REVIEW

Follow every response

Inspect status codes, raw Location headers, resolved destinations and the termination reason. GET can reveal titles, declared canonicals and robots directives in the bounded source response.

04 / HANDOFF

Export the right evidence

Choose all, filtered or selected results for CSV and JSON. Downloads retain timestamps, scope and coverage. JSON keeps raw values; CSV protects spreadsheet cells from formula execution.

BEFORE DEPLOYMENT

Find problems in the plan, too.

The local map analyzer checks up to 500 old-to-expected pairs in your browser. Find duplicate sources, conflicting destinations, self-redirects, chains and cycles before you review the deployed routes.

A terminal candidate is derived from the map you supply. Local analysis makes no HTTP requests and does not apply redirect rules.

Review a redirect map

Map consistency helps prepare a migration. Live checks establish the responses your server returns.

STATUS CODE FIELD GUIDE

Know what each response means.

301 · 308

Permanent redirect

Signals a lasting move. Confirm the next URL is relevant and inspect its response.

302 · 303 · 307

Temporary redirect

Can be intentional. Review the purpose and route before changing the rule.

200

Successful response

Confirms HTTP success for this request. It does not confirm content relevance or indexing.

404 · 410 · 5xx

Destination needs review

Check missing content, intentional removal, server errors or access restrictions.

TURN FINDINGS INTO ACTION

Fix the route that matters.

Unnecessary chains

Where appropriate, point the old URL and internal links directly to the intended destination. Review application, server and CDN rules together so one layer does not add an avoidable hop.

Circular redirects

Inspect the exact URLs in the loop. Conflicting HTTP-to-HTTPS, www, trailing-slash or platform rules can send requests back to an address already visited.

Wrong destinations

Choose a replacement that serves the original page’s purpose. A homepage redirect can resolve an address while failing the visitor’s task. This tool compares addresses, not content equivalence.

Final errors and incomplete checks

A 301 followed by a 404 still needs attention. For stopped traces, review robots rules, access restrictions and the published request limits before treating the result as a site failure.

Find affected source links with the Broken Link Finder. After the route is correct, review destination declarations with the Canonical Tag Checker and Indexability Checker.

REQUEST CONTEXT

Why a browser may show a different route.

Cookies, login sessions, cached redirects, JavaScript, network location and browser HSTS settings can change what you see. HSTS may upgrade an address before the browser makes an HTTP request.

This checker sends fresh server requests. It reports HTTP Refresh headers and HTML meta refresh when found, but does not follow them. For source-versus-rendered questions, explore the JavaScript SEO Checker.

Request times describe the checker’s server conditions. They are not Core Web Vitals measurements.

COVERAGE & PRIVACY

Know what your report covers.

Live tracing accepts five URL rows. Live mapping accepts five pairs and follows only each pair’s two supplied origins; query-bearing, action and resource URLs are excluded from mapping. Robots instructions and public-address checks apply.

Trace requests share a 35-second, 25-request and 2 MiB body budget. Each response is bounded; a truncated body may omit later HTML declarations. Mapping retains its separate 30-second budget.

Files are previewed locally. Live inputs are sent to EduGuestPost; local map analysis stays in your browser. This module does not save reports or raw response bodies. Ordinary infrastructure and requested websites may log requests. See our Privacy Policy.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Redirect checker questions, answered.

Is this redirect checker free?

Yes. Check up to five URL rows or five mapping pairs per live request, subject to human verification and the shared daily allowance. Local map analysis accepts up to 500 pairs without a live-check allowance.

Does it scan my whole website?

It checks the URLs you supply. It does not discover a complete website inventory, reconcile every sitemap entry or certify an entire migration.

Does 200 mean the page is indexed?

No. A 200 response means the server returned a successful HTTP response. It does not confirm page quality, canonical selection or Google indexing. Use Search Console for indexing evidence.

Why does the browser show something else?

Browsers may use cached redirects, cookies, JavaScript, HSTS and a different location. This checker sends fresh server requests without your browser session and does not execute JavaScript.

Does the checker follow meta refresh?

No. It follows HTTP 301, 302, 303, 307 and 308 responses with a Location header. Refresh headers and HTML meta refresh are reported when found, but are not followed.

Can I compare GET, HEAD, desktop and mobile?

Both live forms offer GET and HEAD. URL tracing additionally offers desktop and mobile User-Agent header profiles. Run separate checks to compare conditions; each report records the actual profile. These are server HTTP requests, not complete browser sessions or authenticated Googlebot requests.

Does the expected destination get requested separately?

No. In mapping mode, only the old URL starts a trace. The expected address is a comparison target and may be requested if the observed route leads to it.

Can I compare campaign URLs with query parameters?

Query-bearing URLs are excluded from live mapping. The local map analyzer can compare literal query strings in a supplied plan, but it does not verify deployed parameter behavior.

What is included in a download?

Choose all, filtered or selected results. CSV and JSON retain the check time and export scope; original coverage describes the run. All-results exports may still contain incomplete routes. JSON retains raw values, while CSV prefixes potential spreadsheet formulas with an apostrophe.

Does this tool create or change redirect rules?

No. It reports observations and analyzes supplied map relationships. Review and apply configuration changes separately in your authorized website workflow.
