Evidence before a placement decision
Publisher Site Risk Review
Review a publisher page for observable technical, indexability, content, transparency, URL, and outbound-link concerns. Every flagged point includes the evidence behind it, so the score can support a decision instead of replacing one.
Review a homepage and one or two representative articles when possible. A single page cannot describe an entire publication.

Publisher Site Risk Review
Review technical, indexability, content, transparency, URL, and outbound-link risk signals with evidence.
Not a mystery metric
Know why a page needs a closer look
Many domain scores are useful for screening, but buyers can make poor decisions when the number arrives without context. This local review looks at signals that can be observed on the requested page: HTTP status, HTTPS, robots directives, canonical URL, title and heading structure, visible word count, external-link concentration, followed links, commercial anchor patterns, transparency links, unfinished template text, hidden-content patterns, and unusual URL characteristics.
The result is called a review priority rather than a spam verdict. It does not claim that Google has penalized the domain, that the publisher sells links, or that a low score makes a placement suitable. Those conclusions need broader evidence.
Six review groups
- Access and HTTPS
- Indexability and canonicalization
- Visible content and page structure
- External links and anchor concentration
- Publisher transparency
- Template, presentation, and URL patterns
A practical shortlist
Use the score to decide what to inspect next
Enter representative URLs
Check the domain homepage and recent articles that resemble the placement you are considering. The bulk limit is controlled by the administrator so scans remain responsible.
Open the strongest findings
Read the evidence for high and medium findings. A noindex directive, failed page, hidden-content pattern, or extreme outbound-link concentration deserves more attention than a missing meta description.
Complete the manual review
Validate traffic, topical relevance, country, language, editorial history, recent articles, author standards, and placement rules before approving the publisher.
Configurable model
Adapt the review to your publisher policy
Administrators can change every risk weight, the thin-content threshold, the external-link ratio, commercial anchor phrases, number of URLs per request, and rate limit. Teams that use Moz can choose a licensed Moz-only view or a hybrid report that keeps the local evidence beside Moz metrics.
We deliberately keep the labels separate. The local score is an EduGuestPost review model. Moz Spam Score is a proprietary Moz metric and should be presented under its own name only when it actually comes from Moz.
Security controls
The URL fetcher allows public HTTP and HTTPS destinations, blocks credentials and nonstandard ports, resolves DNS before fetching, and rejects localhost, private, loopback, reserved, and link-local addresses. Response size, redirects, timeout, and request frequency are bounded.

Publisher risk review FAQs
Is this Moz Spam Score?
No. This is a local, evidence-based page review. Moz metrics appear only when the administrator configures the licensed Moz mode.
Does a high score prove a Google penalty?
No. The tool cannot see a publisher’s Search Console, manual actions, or complete domain history. It highlights observable reasons for a closer manual review.
Why should I check more than the homepage?
Homepages, category pages, and articles often have very different content and link patterns. Representative articles give a more useful picture of the placement environment.
Can the result choose a publisher for me?
No. It can help remove obvious problems and document questions. Relevance, audience, traffic quality, editorial fit, availability, and price still need human review.
